Quem tem acompanhado este blog desde o início já deve ter reparado na minha predileção por relógios clássicos e elegantes.
O primeiro Christopher Ward aqui referido era um desses relógios, e este Malvern Quartz MK II segue o mesmo caminho. Embora estejamos neste caso na presença de um muito mais acessível relógio de quartzo, a marca britânica optou por usar um movimento suíço, designadamente um Ronda Calibre 515.

A Junkers, uma das marcas da empresa alemã Pointtec, ensaia uma abordagem de diferenciação interessante com alguns dos modelos da sua nova coleção Eisvogel F13, nomeadamente nos modelos com movimento de quartzo suíço Ronda 6004.D.

Este movimento oferece complicação de data às 3h00 mostrador de pequenos segundos às 6h00. Contudo, de forma a criar peças diferenciadoras, a Junkers decidiu descentrar o movimento, o que se torna evidente ao vermos com a posição tradicional da coroa, às 3h00, passou para as 4h00, fazendo com que o sub-mostrador de pequenos segundos "subisse" das 6h00 para as 7 horas.

A posição da janela de data já é menos rígida (dependendo da forma como os numerais estão inscritos no disco da data, a janela respetiva pode ficar em praticamente qualquer posição) e, para criar um equilíbrio maior, foi colocada às 2h00.

O resultado, nos relógios desta série com as referências 6730-x, é particularmente interessante, uma vez que se criou um mostrador original num modelo que mantém todos os atributos de um clássico dress watch - uma intemporalidade tanto mais importante quanto o distribuidor em Portugal continua a vender estes relógios com garantia vitalícia.

Watch Wearing Is Alive and Well: Swiss Watch Exports on the Rise

The September Swiss watch export statistics are in — and they indicate strong sales in the U.S and around the globe. Exports to the United States grew by 7.3 percent to $235.1 million, according to the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry. In terms of watch price ranges, the greatest growth was in the category of wristwatches priced under $526 (CHF 500), although the higher end of the market also outperformed the same time period of 2013.

Worldwide Swiss watch exports (including components) rose 2.8 percent to $2.065 billion (CHF 1.963 billion) in September. Exports of finished wristwatches in this same time period rose 3.2 percent to $1.951 billion (CHF1.855 billion), while the number of units shipped grew 4.2 percent to 2.672 million for this timeframe.

For the first three quarters of 2014, Swiss watch exports grew 2.7 percent to $16.934 billion (CHF 16.098 billion), while the wristwatch units exported rose by 1.4 percent to 20.722 million.

For such a small item, this is a big business — all demonstrating that buying, enjoying and collecting watches is totally in vogue.
